Rafee is a contemporary painter and dedicated to doing research on ethnic culture study as well as drawing and painting. After graduating with a Diploma in Architecture and earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fine Arts, he further pursued a Master of Fine Art degree at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA and a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts at the University of West England, U.K..
